Pros and cons of RoutesMap app for iPhone and iPad
RoutesMap app good for
I use it, for my running, biking , and pretty much every where I wanna track myself, I can also send to google map.
Being an analytical type I was looking for an app with features like this one provides. For a first release, it is decent but I expect improvements and bug fixes.
Pros:
1. Unique features such as color coding of speeds in routes, gas consumption based on idle and acceleration etc.
Cons:
1. Buggy. A route I recorded yesterday appeared messed up and showed up with 0 miles travelled. Could be because I didnt fill in the from and to fields.
2. The UI is not that intuitive. The buttons are not intuitively named. e.g. the button to start a track is named restart. Its not clear as to how to save a track.
Possible improvements:
1. iPod integration. A must have for a navigation app
2. Ability to show route in tabular format
3. Altitude listing. Nice if you were doing a reconnaissance for a later bike ride along the route
4. Put in a cost of gas field. A dollar value is easier to compare than gallons.
Having said these, I still give it 4 stars being the first release and having very unique features. I still havent tried a lot of the features. If I encounter more issues , I may lower the rating unless there are new releases which fix bugs.
Also have problems with crashing (not my car!). Good if you could add some of the acceleration/deceleration Dillard other apps have. Look forward to next version.
Some bad moments
The only component that appears to be working is the speedometer. Everything else is not functioning on my 3GS. Nice neat little concept, but has a long way to go.
Constantly crashes. Loses saved routes. This is on an iPhone 4.
Absolutely useless. Crashes constantly, wont even start on 4.2 without crashing.
I was able to record one rout and after that it crashes every time I try to open it. I have tried this on a 3gs and a 4. if i delete it from the phone and reload it it works one and wont open again.
I cannot use this app, because I cannot open this app. It crashes within 1/4 second of it opening.
This might be a useful app if it stayed open longer than a second before it crashes! Please fix!
